This magnificent plant (Mirabilis multiflora) was photographed north of the Salt River, Gila Co., Arizona, USA.

ANNUAL: Robust annual with dark green folliage sometimes growing to a rounded form meter or more in diameter.

UNARMED

LEAVES: Leaves are broad, opposite on the stems, and with smooth margins.

RANGE: In the Sonoran Desert in Arizona this plant is likely to be encountered along roadsides or washes where there is a good water supply.

FRUIT: Dry capsules.

FLOWERS: Large pink-magenta, tubular flowers, with five lobes.
