On Peña Blanca Lake, Sta. Cruz Co., Arizona, USA, 7 July 2013.

The appearance of this tropical bird in Arizona generates a lot of attention from bird watchers once it is found. Peña Blanca Lake is close to the Mexican border and is a small man-made lake in a sycamore-lined canyon in the Pajarito Mountains. Grebes remain underwater for a surprisingly long time while hunting small fish and invertebrates.
