FLOWERS: Small clusters of very small, off-white, scaly flowers. These are evenly distributed across the plant mat.

LEAVES: Small, dark green leaves are thick and fairly fleshy.

ANNUAL: Numerous branching stems spreading out very close to soil.

RANGE: Generally distributed through much of the southwestern United States in open, sunny areas after good soaking rains.

FRUIT: Each little flower results in a dry, one-seeded capsule.

UNARMED: No spines.
