FLOWERS: There are usually five larger florets around the perimeter of the small heads. They are white as are the disc florets.

PHYLLARIES: The bracts forming the involucre are of two sizes in inner and an outer rows.

LEAVES: The leaves are partly divided into rounded segments. The term is pinnatifid meaning the leaves are not truly compound because no portion of the midrib is free.

RANGE: Where sycamore canyons cut through limestone formations this plant may be a common componant. Ranges into Mexico and New Mexico.

SHRUBBY: Weekly shrubby plant with many intricate stems and mostly less than a meter tall.
