LEAVES: Elyptical leaves mostly around 25mm long. Margins with small teeth.

FLOWERS: The lowest petal is rich purple and forms a broad platform for a landing bee. Four additional petals are delicate white. Four stamens and the pistil arched above.

ANNUAL: Perennial herb with lower stems slightly woody. Most plants short than 50 cm.

RANGE: This little plant is found in sycamore canyons and other partly shaded spots from southeastern Arizona across to southern Taxas and Mexico.

FRUIT: Four nutlets in a small cup formed by the sepals.
