Apidae -- Bee Family

The males of this genus of bees have have very long antennae which are related to how they find their mates. The females build solitary nests and provision them with a mixture of pollen and nectar. There are many species in North America and quite a few of these are to be expected in the Sonoran Desert. They are important pollinators of native plants.
