HERB: A diminutive plant in the Sonoran Desert, rarely more than 30 cm tall. Numerous slender and leafy stems from sometimes perennial base.

LEAVES: The leaves are opposite on the stems which are square in cross section.

FLOWERS: Pale purple or lavender flowers.

UNARMED.

RANGE: Southwestern USA and Mexico.
