Jewel Scarabs, because of their incredible beauty, have garnered a lot of attention from naturalists, photographers and collectors.

This beautiful species appears in summer after the start of rains from Flagstaff and Prescott east to the New Mexico border. Found in woode haabitat at the upper elevations of the sycamores and into conifer woodlands at higher elevations.
