Desert Honeysuckle, Anisacanthus thurberi, is a great landscape plant for wildlife. The long, red, tubular flowers are attractive to Anna's and Costa's Hummingbirds while the leaves play host to butterfly caterpillars, such as the Elada Checkerspot (Texola elada). But of course you will have to accept a plant with a few square centimeters of missing leaf. The plant won't mind so why should you?
